What To Know About Social Distancing And The ACT

Changing test dates, inconsistent communication, and a general atmosphere of uncertainty have plagued students seeking to take the ACT (and their parents) this summer.

If you are one of the lucky students registered to take the test, ACT has committed to following public health and social distancing guidelines during in-person test administration:

On test day, your center must have markings or signs to ensure six feet of distance during check-in and testing.

All test-takers will also undergo a health and wellness screening covering current or recent symptoms, contact with others who have been formally diagnosed with COVID or who have displayed symptoms, and recent travel history. If you have traveled to any “high-risk” locations, even inside the U.S., you will not be admitted to the test! The ACT does not currently define which locations they consider high-risk, so limiting non-essential travel in the two weeks before your test date would be wise.

Test takers and administrators will also be required to bring and wear protective masks and gloves. PPE, including masks, will be briefly inspected as part of the check-in process to ensure normal test security protocol is followed, despite the coronavirus craziness.

While you’re waiting for test day, keep your skills sharp by reviewing.
